Our Family Movie Picks

BEST Movies Since January 2003

This section lists the Top Movies that we've either seen at the movie theater Since we started doing this in January 2003 or that have recently come out on video that we think are worth watching.    Yes, we are a bit out of date as I'm sure that there are some movies that are missing that you think should probably be here, but...  Check back for updates.

Rated in order of quality:

1. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days... "I actually saw them getting ready to film a scene from this movie when I was in NY in June of 2002 and have pictures of the set. (Rating: 4.5 Family Photo Albums)

2. Pirates of the Carribean: The Curse of the Black Pearl...."I REALLY REALLY liked this movie. The special effects are seamless. A fun movie that you can take the whole family to.  (Rating:  4 Worst Pirates I've ever Seen,  I mean best Pirates I've ever Seen.)

3. Paycheck... "Ben Affleck is a high-tech engineering guru who works on short-term top-secret projects. After each job he has his memory erased back to his hire date under a non-disclosure agreement that he signs before each contract.  Persuaded by a rich old friend (Aaron Eckhart) who runs a huge biotech conglomerate to take on a mysterious and illicit three-year job with a mega-bucks final payoff, when Ben wakes up after this latest he discovers he's divested himself of a $92 million profit and left in its stead an envelope containing 20 cryptic items (strange sunglasses, hairspray, a paper clip, a fortune cookie fortune, a watch, etc.) that begin coming in suspiciously handy as he is hunted by assassins and the FBI.   (Rating: 4 fingers crossed)  Viewed on 12/12/2003

4.  Seabiscuit...."Great period piece and family film. You will Love this movie!" (Rating: 4 Furlongs)

5.  Somethings Gotta Give....  You generally can't go wrong with a Jack Nicholson movie and Something's Gotta Give is not an exception. This movie is a side-splitting comedy that will have you laughing, as all its gags, verbal and sight, virtually come out of nowhere at just the right moments. (Rating: 3.75 Dancing Henrys) Viewed on 12/31/2003

6. Die Another Day...."Try to count the references to the other 19 Bond movies. See this movie at matinee prices." (Rating: 2.5 Invisible Cars)

7.  The Hulk...."If you can get through the first part of the movie, you'll like the rest of the movie. Overall, wait for this to come out on DVD."  (Rating: 1 Tattered Shirt)

Note: We use a 5 point max rating system.
